Forming of Ceramic Materials
- 3 p course for graduate students

This course is primarily intended for graduate students in the field of powder technology and for all other people who want to learn more about forming of powder components.

The course teaches a systematic approach to solving forming and powder processing problems. Ceramic examples will be used throughout the course but the methods can be applied to metal, hardmetals, cermets and intermetallic powders as as well.

The course will focus on understanding the phenomena and only occasionally on quantifying them. The systematic approach will be based on colloid chemistry, which is the basis for handling fine powders.

No specialized prior knowledge is necessary.

Textbook Surface and Colloid Chemistry in Advanced Ceramics Processing, ed. R. Pugh and L. Bergström, Marcel Dekker, Inc., 1993 (376 pages)
Lecturer Elis Carlström, PhD, IVF Industrial Researh and Development Corporation , +46 (0)31 7066144
