Ceramic Materials - KKE011 Keramiska Material

General Information

This course is primarily intended for 4th-year students in chemistry at Chalmers University but all students studying materials science are welcome to participate. The course is intended to give the students basic knowledge about ceramics, i.e. inorganic non-metal materials.

The course in Ceramic Materials is given every year at the beginning of the spring term (January–March). To make it possible not only for full-time students but for people working to participate, this course is given as an "intensive" course, on three different occasions on three consecutive days (Tuesday–Thursday).

N.B. Although the course literature (Modern Ceramic Engineering, 2nd edition, 1992 by David W. Richerson) is in English the rest of the course (lectures and laboratory lessons) is in Swedish.

Research – MSc Theses – Graduate Students

The Swedish Ceramic Institute (SCI) is an industrial research institute whose primary objectives are to carry out research and development and education for the Scandinavian and other European industries using or manufacturing ceramics.

The work is carried out in close cooperation with some departments at Chalmers along with the industries involved.

The master of science diploma work at SCI is closely related to the research projects and is often related to current industrial problems, sometimes directly in cooperation with a specific company. The work is then planned to make it possible for the students to use SCI's equipment.

Newly graduated MSc students in technology who are employed by SCI can also be accepted as graduate students at Chalmers.
